Fashion jewellery is made to be worn and loved. A few gentle habits keep its colour, shine and settings at their best — occasion after occasion.
Put your jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and make-up have settled — and take it off before anything else at the end of the day.
Keep it dry
Take your jewellery off before bathing, swimming, washing your hands or exercising. Water and sweat slowly dull a finish. If a piece does get wet, pat it dry straight away with a soft cloth.
Away from perfume & lotions
Perfume, hairspray, lotions, oils and sanitiser can cloud stones and wear away shine. Let them dry completely before your jewellery goes on.
Store each piece on its own
Keep every piece separately in a soft pouch or its own box, so pieces cannot scratch or tangle one another. Lay necklaces flat and fasten clasps before you put them away.
Wipe, never scrub
After wearing, wipe gently with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid polishing pastes, chemical dips, brushes and ultrasonic cleaners.
Mind the humidity
Store jewellery somewhere cool and dry — away from the bathroom, open windows and direct sunlight. A sachet of silica gel in the box helps to keep moisture away.
Handle with a light touch
Hold pieces by their body rather than pulling on chains, drops or tassels, and take them off before sleeping or heavy work, so settings and links stay secure.

- Kundan, Polki & Jadau styles
- Richly set styles carry many stones and fine detail. Store them flat and never piled together, avoid pressure on the settings, and keep them well away from moisture.
- Moissanite styles
- Brilliance comes from clean stones. Skin oils and lotions soften the sparkle, so a regular, gentle wipe with a soft dry cloth brings the fire back.
- Silver pieces
- Silver naturally darkens with air and moisture over time. Keep it in a sealed pouch or an airtight box, and a soft silver-polishing cloth will bring back its shine.
Take it off first
At the end of the day, remove your jewellery before make-up, clothes or anything else.
Wipe
Pass a soft, dry cloth over each piece to lift away skin oils and residue.
Let it breathe
Leave it in the open for a few moments, so any moisture can leave.
Put it away
Return it to its own pouch or box, clasps fastened, somewhere cool and dry.
